Pedicels: stalk of one flower. Pedicellate: having a stalk. Peduncule: stalk of an nflorescence. Perennating: surviving winter after flowering. Peltate: of a flat organ, with stalk inserted under surface, not at edge. See. Fig. P14. Petiole: stalk of leaf. Perfoliate: of a leaf, the base of which surrounds the stem. Pericarp: fruit: wall surrounding seeds. Pinnate: 3 or > leaflets arranged in two rows along stalk. See Fig.011. Pinnatifid : pinnately cut, not separate portions lobes connected by leaf blade. See Fig. P15 Pinnatisect : pinnatifid like, but with some lower divisions reaching the midrib. Procumbent: lying loosely along surface of ground. Protandrous: stamens mature before ovary.
