Mallard (male). 21.5.14, Aberdare Town Park
The iredescent glittering colours of this common, maligned duck are much overlooked.
Anthropomorphic sensibilities would suggest that he is smiling, even posing for the camera.
The mark on the upper beak suggests a pellet wound that has healed.
